Well it’s that time of year again when the evenings get darker, the weather gets colder and wetter and the attractions of outside become less attractive. So back to the keyboard and see what we can do with WordPress this winter.

I have started the onerous task of entering what data I have on my family into the database. The good news is I have started. It will be an ongoing task as there is always new data to add. At the moment the data is limited pretty much to name, dates and locations.

All sites now running on WordPress so it is goodbye to Adobe Dreamweaver and their ridiculous monthly charges.

Spent yesterday adding a database for the family tree, all worked surprisingly well, then got clever and in trying to “tidy” up using PHP Myadmin nearly lost beaujolee.co.uk altogether with “Error in connecting to database”. Thanks to my ISP, 34sp.com, who managed to resolve the problem in a couple of hours and am now back…

Just added a gallery plugin, it took at least three minutes, and to think of all those hours I spent with java script. Doh

I have now converted 2 charity sites to WordPress so it is beginning to take over from good old fashioned handcrafted html/css code. OK  so I am about 5 years behind everybody else but what the heck. At least having dug a content management hole I’m starting to dig my way out of it.

A new year a new website, well a reworking of the old one actually.  I thought I would re-implement the site using WordPress. Two reasons, firstly it’s about time I focussed on content rather than technology and secondly Dreamweaver and Creative Cloud are prohibitively expensive so this will not be the only site I am…

Well the rain has finally stopped and the last two weeks have been sunny and warm(ish). Net result is that I have spent even less time working on Beaujolee and the family tree (sounds like a pop group!) As the weather improves and the days grow longer then inevitably progress on the tree will slow…

It is still raining here in the UK and has been for the last six weeks! Still it has given me the opportunity to update my web site and my blog!

I have decided to rethink the site ready for an autumn (2013) revamp so for now it is just a front page and blog. If the summer weather is truly dreadful then the site may get redeveloped sooner.
